"Another Life," or "Still Life with Typewriter"
I just completed this still life yesterday, which I started a couple of years ago and let lag. All the accoutrements in the still life are from my previous life as a graduate student in law and philosophy. The books are texts in ancient Greek or Latin, the yellow paper on the left is my verb chart and below that is a declension sheet. Of course I usually was on my computer, so the typewriter is somewhat anachronistic, but only slightly so: I did do my law school applications on the now-obsolete machine. I bought the Underwood online and liked it because it had both a black and red ribbon. The white linen sheet is my resume from the summer of my 1L year. I put the flower in there because I was always looking for beauty during this time, and saw it wherever I could.
